Profile of Rosie Newman
Rosie trained in Fine Art / Sculpture at Camberwell School of Art, London.
She now teaches Art at Inverness College and works from her studio at The Stables in Cromarty, on The Black Isle.

Her work follows a theme of repetition versus uniqueness and this includes studies for wallpaper and fabric designs. She uses the texture or the paint to ‘set the pattern free’: the pattern then dissolves or changes through painting, as though nature has claimed it back. She often uses practical or utilitarian images in her work, putting feeling, wildness and nature back into them and vice versa.
