Profile of Richard Moore

Richard was born in Haworth, West Yorkshire. After finishing school, Richard pursued a career in the Army, serving with the Royal Engineers. On leaving the services he went to art college in Bradford, gaining a ND in Art and Design. Richard then went to Blackpool where he studied Scientific and Natural History Illustration. Whilst at Blackpool, Richard was selected to go to Sweden and work for a zoo, illustrating white tigers. He also won an illustrating competition for English Nature.

Since leaving college, Richard has worked full time illustrating and painting for a wide variety of clients. These include The British Army, Historical Societies, Museums, Book Illustrations and private clients. He also teaches part-time. Richard's favourite subject is the Highland landscape, with its beautiful scenery, it's light and capturing it's many moods. He paints in oils and acrylics but his preferred medium is watercolours. Richard is married, has one daughter, a cat and a dog.
