Profile of Jane MacRae

Painting in oils and acrylics, I enjoy building up a composition using palette knife on thick paint, to add texture and allowing the blend of colours to shape the landscape.

Born and raised in Caithness I am particularly inspired to paint its dramatic coastline and exposed moorland.

Choosing teaching over art at college, following my Art Higher, limited my time to paint, but since taking early retirement, I now paint full-time, exhibiting at art venues throughout the Highlands.
