Profile of Ian Nelson
Ian Nelson studied at Durham University in the department of Architecture, and at the college of Art in Middlesborough. After qualifying as an architect and completing his National Service, he became a partner with a firm of architects in the North East of England, and eventually ran his own practice. Moving to Cumbria in 1984 he gave up architecture and worked for the Lake District National Park, while developing his interest in painting with watercolours and mixed media.

In 1989, he moved again, this time to Scotland where he now lives with his wife beside Little Loch Broom at Durnamuck in Wester Ross. Ian has had considerable success with his work. He has had exhibitions north and south of the border and his originals and prints may be seen at a number of outlets in the Highlands.
