Profiles of Artists exhibiting at The Beauly Gallery
Profile of Alison Illet
Born in Preston, Lancashire where she studied for a National Diploma in Art and Design from 1989-1991. I moved to the Highlands with my husband and children in 1998, and we are now living 4 miles from Invergordon. Since moving to the area I have become a member of the Highland Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, and Dingwall Art Group.
My subject matter is varied, but based on natural elements, human form or landscape. I work both two and three dimensionally. My two dimensional work consists of painting and drawing, using a variety of media and techniques depending on the effects I wish to obtain. My three dimensional work, often textile based, using hand-dyed fabrics and yarns, as well as felted and woven structures.

I am constantly inspired and fascinated by the structure and form of objects and how they are affected by light and its ethereal and ephemeral qualities. At the moment my work is fairly realistic although this may change as I am quite prepared to allow a piece to be influenced by my own feelings, or what I want the finished piece to 'say'. Ideally I want to capture and develop original ideas using creativity and imagination.
