Rachel Common, Artist in Residence for Saturday 30th July.
Born in Oxford in '67, Rachel Common moved to Scotland after completing her studies and brought with her the great skills of knitting, crochet and dressmaking - taught by her Mum.
Making things from wool or any other type of yarn quickly became a tradition when making Christmas or birthday presents for family and friends. Whilst settled in Scotland, Rachel found her Dutch partner Eddy who shares the same love for Scotland (and for yarn). Eddy is a photographer and graphic-designer and quickly became involved in Rachel's craft adventures by giving his valuable creative thinking and skills.

In 2010 Common Crafts was born...
Moving from the Glasgow area, Rachel and Eddy now live in Invergordon overlooking the Cromarty Firth. From here Rachel takes part in craft fairs and other opportunities to display (and sell) her high quality products. Rachel even sells them from her home in Invergordon where she has a cosy 'wee shop' that shows a continuous and ever changing line of products ranging from mobile phone covers, mini-purses, decorative hearts, balls etc, and also slightly bigger items like hats, scarves and bags.
Rachel has tremendous pride in the things she makes, and therefore tries to use the best possible materials available as both she and Eddy very much endeavour to promote Scottish / British produce. It is, needless to say, that Rachel and her partner have great pride in what they do and produce, and hope to share this with all of you.
Please enjoy her products as much as she enjoys making them....with a passion for yarn.
