This is part of a series of news items profiling the artists who will be attending Beauly Gallery as Artists in Residence for Art Around the Firth. Art Around the Firth is Beauly Gallery's contribution to Highlands Open Studio 2011.
The main Highland Open Studio exhibition will be on-show, in the gallery, throughout the month of July. The Artist in Residence days begin on the 23rd July and last for 9 days. Each artist will be available between 12-4pm. The full timetable can be found on this page.
My current focus has been to experiment with a variety of media and various techniques to produce images inspired by the coastal scenery of Orkney. The seashore around Warebeth Bay just west of Stromness has fantastic rocks and bits of wrecks.

I use charcoal and ink to become familiar with the landscape before painting with acrylic or oil to try and capture something of the essence of this wonderful place.
