*To Hell and Back - Jay Muirhead
"A highly involving, satisfying and dramatic novel, with a sympathetic heroine and a fearsome villain".
To Hell and Back is the story of Helen Waters, who is enviable by all outward appearances, luxurious home in London, expensive cars, designer clothes, a loving daughter named Louise and a husband who seems sensitive and caring. But looks can deceive and as Mark pulls the curtain, he pulls Helen close, too close. His paranoid delusions fuel outraged fits of violence and when Helen realizes that she is being quickly swept away in a progressively rising torent of brutality with no relief in sight, it becomes apparent that she is going to lose more than her dignity and self-respect. She's going to lose her life if she doesn't escape.
Helen and Louise settle in a small village in the Scottish Highlands where they find peace and stability for the first time in sixteen years. And for the first time in her life Helen falls genuinely in love with a man, Jerry Burns, who loves her back without wanting to control and manipulate her. Unfortunately their bliss doesn't last long as Helen's dark past finally catches up with her, they'll all pay a great price before Mark is finished extracting his vengeance.

***Highland Open Studios
This is the third year of Highland Open Studios. An event ideally organised to highlight the Arts and Crafts movement here in the Highlands. Again, members of Scotland's newest arts collective will be opening their doors to the public for a week of Arts and Crafts. A spectacular chance to view artists at work, whether it be within their studios, workshops or within a gallery environment. You will find every area of Arts and Crafts represented, from nationally acclaimed galleries to small scale quality craft makers, producing sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, glass, wood, photography and much, much more.
Here at The Beauly Gallery, you will of course receive A WARM WELCOME, AS IS USUAL. We have a number of artists and craft makers in attendance during the week, including Eileen Addly, Caroline Simmill and Nicola MacDonnell. Many of whom will be demonstrating during the event. Makers and painters will happily discuss their work, so feel free to take the opportunity to ask questions, browse and maybe purchase a piece or two.
