Sally Chadwick
I have been making ART dolls for about four years, ever since a friend bought me a book on the subject and I began to realise the creative possibilities.
Doll-making intertwines everything that I love - story-telling (particularly fantasy), bead-work, colour and the art of faces and figures. I have a particular fondness towards jesters, but have also created fairies, elves, mermaids, angels, oriental dolls and other quirky characters who simply pop into my head. Sometimes, the smallest trinket or piece of unusual cloth can suggest a new doll. Sometimes, the inspiration comes from a name, or a character in a tale. Doll-making is my passion because it has taught me so many new things, and I know that I will continue to learn.

I moved up to the Highlands from Manchester because I wanted to live a happier, more creative life, and this is what I have achieved. By day, I also work in an Out of School Club, where I have introduced doll-making to a number of children. They are now as hooked as I am!
