Artist Profile of Barbara Clark

I have rediscovered the joy of painting after decades of  doing little creatively. Family life just got in the way!

From studying art at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee, eventually specialising in fine art weaving and ceramics I went on to work in teaching weaving in an arts centre in Glasgow, Goldsmith's college Embroidery/Textiles dept (as Technician), then in the weaving workshops of Lesotho.

From so enjoying the richness of colour and texture in weaving I have, much more recently, come to appreciate the more immediate results of drawing and painting and, in oils, find the same capacity for exploring texture and richness of colour. I find inspiration all around in the beauty of nature, (especially here in the highlands of Scotland), and in the human form (life drawing brought me back to the sheer pleasure of getting lost in creating an image.)

More recently I have been taking tentative steps into the art of printmaking.
